Enable Emoji on iPhone firmware 2.1.1 without Jailbreak

What is Emoji?

Emoji is the Japanese name for emoticons and other picture characters used in Japanese communications including messages transmitted via cell phones and on webpages.

Emoji on iPhone is normally only available to supported Japanese carriers. Read on to see how you can gain access to Emoji on any carrier without jailbreaking or modifying plists on your iPhone.

How to Enable Emoji

1. Be Sure You’re on iPhone firmware is 2.2 or 2.2.1
2. Download Spell Number (free) from App Store
3. Launch the application and enter 9876543.21 and close the app (home button)
4. Open Settings > General > Keyboard > International Keyboards >Japanese > Turn the Emoji “ON”

5. Select the Globe when entering text with any app to add Emoji
